This is fairly unnecessary and adds a layer of complication that would
otherwise not be there.

Depending on how fast the vB team can push a Release Candidate for 3.7
branch, chances are we'll be waiting until the day of that upgrade
(maybe a few weeks or so away?) and then just taking the forum offline
for 4-8 hours and doing all of it in one go.
