Summary: Changing Mouse Action for "Initiate Move Window" changes
behavior of title-bar dragging
Product: Compiz Fusion
Version: 0.6.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: Plugins
AssignedTo: dev at lists.compiz-fusion.org
ReportedBy: johnhanauer at gmail.com
Normally, using Button1 to drag a titlebar will move the window, and letting go
of Button1 stops the Move Window action. However, if you change the mouse
action for "Inititate Move Window" in the Move Window plugin, the default
behavior changes such that Button1 now toggles when moving windows via the
titlebar.
So, to reproduce, I've done the following:
(1) Change Mouse action for "Initiate Move Window" in Move Window plugin from
"<Alt>Button1" to "Button8" (any button works, use Button2 if your mouse is
limited). This works as expected, Button8 will move windows by clicking
anywhere on the window.
(2) Now, click Button1 on the titlebar and unclick, or alternatively, try
dragging the title bar with Button1. When letting go, move window is still
initiated and requires a second click of Button1 to disable.
The expected result is that when letting go of Button1, the Move Window action
will stop, however, the actual result is that the move-window action now
requires toggling and a second click of Button1 is necessary to stop moving.
I've verified this on two computers, as well as with other users in
#compiz-fusion. My version of compiz is 0.6.2, I'm using Fedora 8's latest rpm
(0.6.2-3.fc8).
