Well the pink shadow part of this bug seems to have been resolved:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=109546&page=2 .It seems like
installing rpm or deb packages incorrectly links (or doesn't link)
libnvidia-wfb on xorg 1.3 servers.  

I still think the window decorator artefacts problem exists on xorg 1.4.  But,
I don't have Fedora 9 yet to tell.
