I never really could reproduce the 'crazy window decorations' part. Decorations
apart from the shadows have always worked for me. May be the theme that I use
is not affected by it.

Someone who has crazy window decorations should probably try the Nvidia
installer - it may be worth the work if it fixes the issue.
