Similarly, this is about AMD/ATI drivers, but talks about the fact that they 
will be releasing 2D and 3D specifications in the near future for r500 and 
newer cards:

From the talk on #dri-devel, it sounds like the DRI developers have already 
been talking to AMD about this and there will be a more in depth announcement 
in the next day or two.
