Beryl core was about 3x bigger afaik.

Actually I know that it merged but many of my friends that got into linux

Mh.. you might find that you will have different problems with compiz-core
than beryl core. I do know for sure that certain applications might behave
strangely / cause compiz to crash but thats because beryl-core was full of
hacks to make it work with XYZ application.

To tell you the truth, Compiz Fusion has been ready for a release for quite
some time, but there are things like artwork and website stuff standing in
the way.

I feel kind of sad that after many maany months there is no compiz-fusion

Repos :

Heree, you can find a git script which will get you ... compiz-fusion stuff.

git clone git://git.opencompositing.org/users/kristian/compiz-scripts

This will fetch the plugins
git clone git://git.opencompositing.org/fusion/misc/yags

I thought the reason for the merger was to have a better product, but whats

Unfortunately, there is nothing on the compiz.org front page saying that
compiz fusion exists. We need to beg them to put a notice up or something
(RYX is the owner, and he apparatly quit, sooo...)

Yes you are correct, shutting down the beryl-forums was maybe too quick, but
