Beryl wasn't really "killed". It is currently being merged with compiz,
because the developers decided that its wasted effort and work to maintain
compiz and beryl. And as you know beryl was basically just a modified compiz
with some more plugins.

Try Compiz Fusion, it's even better. Alsthough there is no stable release
yet.

Since there is no stable release yet, there is nothing (official) for
downloading available. Although there are some repositories for various
distributions and you can use git to get the source and compile it yourself.
But if you don't want to use unstable stuff you should stay with beryl and
wayt for the release of compiz fusion.
As far as I know the website is currently being worked on. As temporary
forum there is http://www.opencompositing.org

You must be blind. Sorry. There are annoucements on
beryl-project.orgdirecting to the temporary home at
opencompositing.org. And there always was compiz.org around, where you can
also find some useful information on compiz (fusion).

Yes you are correct, shutting down the beryl-forums was maybe too quick, but
now it's too late to lament... Lets just hope the new website is ready soon.
