I don't consider myself officially part of the team, but I try to help as
much as possible.

I first started fiddling with linux in (as far as I remember) summer 2006. I
had an extremely slow computer that I had gotten for about $50 total, mostly
out of parts taken from the street.

My experience with linux was very bad then (everything crawled compared to
my windows 98 install that I encountered on one of the hard drives I found).
It just wasn't worth it, though I really liked the idea. Looking back, maybe
Damn Small Linux might have worked, but I didn't try it...

Then, in summer 2006 I saw a video on Youtube of this cube... and the
windows were rubbery. I (stupidly) attempted to install Compiz on my
computer, failing, of course. But I really wanted it.

One day, my dad gave me a copy of a magazine which gave all the parts to
build your own PC. The price was about $1000, but I pushed it down to $350
by already having a cd drive, case, mouse, monitor, keyboard, hard drive,
etc.

And that's the PC I use today. The graphics are nVIDIA GeForce 7600, with
256MB vram, and an AMD athlon 3200+ 64-bit processor. Only 512MB RAM.

I have a single install--ubuntu feisty fawn, with Compiz Fusion git. I miss
my computer now, since I am away. ;)

I spend my time making video casts of new Compiz Fusion features... see my
fusioncast, etc. I am getting to know (and enjoy using) kdenlive for video
editing.

I have some experience with HTML and CSS, and tried some super-simple C++
stuff. I love editing Wiki's ... I can't wait to be able to work on a Compiz
Fusion wiki!!!!!! ... I like writing in general.

Though I'm currently on vacation in Austria, and so you will almost never be
able to find me, I spend most of my time on IRC trying to offer advice to
newbies and those with simple problems. I also enjoy the company of
Jupiter1tx, Fyda and the others who spend time on IRC ;) My nick is
generally gavintlgold, though for some services I am puttabutta. (please,
italian or spanish speakers, don't be offended. I had no idea that the words
meant anything when I chose that username)

I am a teenager, still in high school. I'll probably go to college and do
something with computers or technology to benefit the environment, etc. I
play the violin.

Anyway, I hope to help in as many ways as possible!
