Hmm, let's see.
Around late 2002-early 2003 I discovered this 'Linux' thing and
thought being able to rebuild the core of the system (kernel) to by
desires was awesome. 4 hours later it was still going and I went back
to Windows. Messed around a little more afterward but it never stuck.
Then in October 2004 Ubuntu came out and I've been here since.
I got into compiz-related things right at the start of the Beryl
project and tried to help get project management things setup. Did a
bit of coding here and there, main interest was the dbus plugin.
Eventually 'swam upstream' to compiz proper and did some more dbus
work there.
Professionally I started out doing web development (CSS and such back
when it was still 'new') doing PHP/HTML/CSS/JS. Eventually got
interested in desktop stuff (and Python) and went back to school for
awhile. Now I'm back to web stuff. :)
I've been spending some time learning more about the stack of
technologies that make the composited desktop tick (X, DRI, Cairo,
EXA, etc) and playing with clutter. Oh, I'm also on the team that
packages compiz for Ubuntu.
This is not my first involvement in a free software project, I've
started a few and am currently involved with the GNOME and Ubuntu
projects.
Personally I'm 20, live in the Iowa/Nebraska area in the US, love
music, and am trying to learn guitar.
