I first tried Linux about 13 months ago. A friend of mine (eosten - the
fellow who held down the fort in my stead for the past few days) got me
started with Kubuntu Edgy Beta. I went cold turkey and have not
installed Windows on any PC I own since then. I've used several
distributions - all the popular ones. I prefer GNOME, even though I
started out with KDE.
I first used Compiz-Quinn back in the 0.2.2 days - it was a royal pain
to get setup with X and such, though I can do it easily now.
Most of my work with the project has been on the front-side of things.
In spite of the fact that I constantly refer to the fact that I can't
code to save my life, I can actually program fairly efficiently in Ruby,
Python, and PHP/HTML. I have no aspirations to learn anything beyond
either of them - thankfully. Still, I do what I can with the above - a
good example would be a co-project between eosten and myself called
Dieu. It's available on Gnome-Files. ;)
My real aspiration in life involves music. I play clarinet, saxophone,
piano, and percussion. I love to listen to and write all sorts of music
too. I want to be a band director and composer after college. Some of my
favorite composers are Alfred Reed, David Holsinger, and Eric Whitacre.
One of my favorite things to eat is sweet and sour pork. Macaroni and
cheese is similarly high on my list.
